A Crazy Crossover That Nobody Expected, Delivers In More Ways than One!

User Rating: 10 | Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle NS

By this point, it's probably easier to ask, what HASN'T Mario done by this point? After all, he's been a carpenter (ORIGINAL "Donkey Kong" job profession), a wrecker ("Wrecking Crew"), a Plumber, a Doctor, a Race Kart Driver, a tennis player, a golf player, a basketball player, a soccer player, a referee (NES "Punch-Out" game), a brawler, an astronaut (technically, in the "Super Mario Galaxy" games), an Olympic Athlete, and has rescued Princess Peach from Bowser over 17 times in his illustrious career...well, consider THAT practice for this! When the Rabbids unexpectedly invade the Mushroom Kingdom by using a dimensional traveling WASHING Machine (and trust me, the game ONLY gets weirder and denser from there), the Rabbids unexpectedly get transformed, into both good, and bad guys. The Good Rabbids dress up as Luigi, Peach, Mario, and Yoshi, and team up with Mario and regular Luigi, Peach, and Yoshi, in order to stop the chaotic Rabbid invasion, and set things right to where they once belonged! Even though this R.P.G video game is filled with only four levels, the levels are VERY long, divided into several sections, or stages! Each level must be completely cleared of bad guys (or in some cases, as many bad guys as needed, or just reaching the end of an area, or escorting Toad, or Toadette, or Spawny the Rabbid to the end of an area). There is a LOT to explore, and SO much visual and written humor crammed into the game, makes sure that despite the chaos, this game NEVER takes itself TOO seriously, even if some of the optional challenges can sometimes border on the "Contra" side of practically impossible! One of the unique things about this game, is that you don't just get more health every time you complete a level (not counting the hidden stage), you also get Power Orbs every time you complete a stage. You'll need those power orbs to unlock the strategies and techniques every single character can use. However, you probably WON'T be able to unlock every single upgrade a character can have, so plan your strategies accordingly, to what your character's greatest strengths are. Also, coins are FINALLY no longer JUST for collecting anymore, as they serve a practical purpose within the game, towards unlocking better, and more powerful weapons. Just like the Power orbs, you probably WON'T be able to purchase every single weapon there is, so just buy the most expensive ones available as soon as you can, in order to make short work of your enemies! Also fun, is collecting all the different treasures from the treasure chests, which have cool artwork and 3-D models to look at. Also fun is the "Donkey King Adventure" add-on DLC that you can purchase. Same rules from the main game apply to the add-on, only coins are replaced with bananas, and power orbs are replaced with runes. This is definitely one of the more challenging games in Mario's entire video game catalog, but it just goes to show that Mario can even appear in a cross-over as CRAZY as this, and STILL make a VERY great game! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an entertaining R.P.G. Adventure Video Game! Enough said, true believers!
