Have some friends over, but nothing to do? Pull out the N64, some remotes, and prepare to never leave the room. Party!

User Rating: 8.5 | Mario Party N64
This is the first game in the Mario Party series. To me, it is much more addicting and fun than the latter games in the series. With the number of boards, Mini games, and unlockables, you'll be playing it for a while to come.

You and your friends battle it out, trying to get the most stars and each of you try to prove you're better than the others. You battle it out in Mini games, trying to get enough coins for a star, and at the same time, try to keep others from getting the coins. This game will keep entertaining you as long as you have some one to play with. Remember: the more, the merrier.

The graphics are pretty good by the N64's standards, and the controls are great. There is a storyline, but if you're playing with friends, you completely forget about it. The animation and sound effects are also good.

There are a few bad points, unfortunately... There are certain Mini games where you must rotate the control stick, and people got blisters from doing so (the worst I got was a sore hand), so they may cause problems. Another bad thing is the repetitive Mini games. I do realise I just said that the Mini games also keeps you playing it, but some of them appear way too often. But, if you are playing against real people, you'll never realise you're playing the same games.

As for the unlockables, there are a few. There is 1 stage, all the mini games if the Mario Party cartridge is new, and lots of extras from the shop. You have to play a lot of times to get coins to pay for the Mini games and items from the shop. Luckily, the more pople, the easier it is to gain coins: another reason why a number of people should play this at a time.

Overall, this game has stuff that'll keep you playing for years to come. The graphics, sound, controls, etc., are great. Ignore the people who gave this game a bad review: they obviously have never played it with "friends", and that's what this game is about!
I'd give it a 8.5!
