It's time for the Mario and Luigi, Partners In Time Review. For the DS. This is the second Mario and Luigi game. The first was Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga for the GBA, which has been reviewed already. Check it out!

The story is about how in the past, the Mushroom Kingdom has been invaded by an alien race of mushrooms called Shroobs. They have taken over the past and drained the life out of the toads, taking their vim.

Back from the past! Professor E. Gadd has built a time machine, and Princess Peach decided to test it out, but being the nag he is, Toadsworth is hesitant and flips out, becoming unconscious. After you revive him with a Refeshroom, the time machine arrives back, but it looks.....destroyed. When it opens, Princess Peach doesn't come out! Instead, an alien comes out. After you defeat it, E. Gadd predicts that Peach has been kidnapped in the past. Soon a time hole appears, which you jump in. This first part is the tutorial for the adults. Later, you will arrive in Hollijolli Village, where the city is practically destroyed. You next battle three Shroobs, but they have a time bomb, don't worry, this battle is impossible to win. After losing, you switch to the babies, Baby Mario and Baby Luigi, on Baby Bowser's Koopa Kruiser, which is the tutorial for them. After you see your adult selves, you land and help 'em out. The adults regain consciousness and board the ship. Soon, the Cruiser is shot down by a Shroob Missle, and you crash into Baby Bowser's castle. This is the tutorial for the quartet.....kinda. Near the end, you find a Cobalt Star shard, a part of the fuel supply for the time machine. You go back to the present day. This is as far as I will go into the story. What a long story, comparing from Ocarina of Time. Whew!

The graphics are the same as the previous game, but I think they were polished up a little! At least Mario and Luigi don't do that dance when battling!

The controls are good, but I was dissapointed because the Mic and Touch Screen were barely used. Of course, the SCREEN is used, but you won't blow or speak in the mic or use the stylus a lot.

In this game, there is one major sidequest. You can find beans in the ground which you can dig up and trade at Fawful's Bean n' Badge. Hmmmm....that name sounds familiar.

The bosses weren't hard, but weren't easy either. There is more variety in attacks though. Instead of Bros. Moves, they have been replaced with Bros. Items. Such items are like Green Shells, Bro(Fire) Flowers, Trampolines, Cannonballers, etc. These were better than before, I must say.

Now, in this game, you also get to control the baby versions of Mario and Luigi. These guys can help solve puzzles and are awesome. After all, one of them is a true hero!(I'm not saying who, find out for yourself.) If fighting as 4, if one of the adults lose all HP, he will be dragged off the screen and a baby will replace him. You should revive the fallen ally quickly, because not only will you lose power, but there are some Bros. Items you can't use without all 4 of you. Some items only require 2 bros, but more power can be added if you fight as 4.

Mario and Luigi Partners in Time is a great game. Graphics, story, battle mode, and the additions of the babies was a creative idea. The only downsides were that there wasn't much replay value, the game was short, the battle music wasn't good, and the Mic and Touch Screen weren't used as much as I hoped. But overall, this was super fun. This game gets a 9 out of 10 with the title of Superb!
