A solid effort but the end the new ESPN MLB game comes out a little but short.

This year there is a boat load of baseball games that are coming out, so if you are new to baseball and want a game to get then it will be a pretty difficult choice. All the baseball games are decent, but unfortunatly for ESPN MLB 2K5 it isn't the baseball game for newcomers.

ESPN MLB 2K5 is a solid game of baseball, the game has exceptional gameplay, the sounds on the field are good, and the game is alright. But it has some very noticable flaws that hold it back from excellency. The game's graphics aren't a very good thing about this game, the players look cartoony and overall the game doesn't look as good as say MVP Baseball 2005. The hitting and pitching systems in the game are decent but could be a lot better. The ptiching seems a little too easy, and the hitting could be a bit better. But a neat thing about the hitting a pitching is like a slam zone, where if the pitcher makes a mistake and the hitter can slam it out of the park the hitter and hit the A button repeatidly and then press B button at the right time and hit the ball gone. The game has 2 things that no other baseball game can challenge. The baserunning and leadoffs are very good, if you don't want to hit and you've got a man on base then you can play as the guy on base and leadoff as much as you want. Also, the presentation for this game is outstanding, it is a close to real life as you can possibly get in the video game right now.

Sadly MLB 2K5 falls a little short of expectations. If you a fan of the series then go out and buy this game but if you aren't, then you should stick with a different baseball game.
