SegaCD's best game? Maybe.

User Rating: 9.2 | Lunar: Silver Star SCD
In my days of SegaCD play, there were few games that were truly worth the time to play. Some games were entertaining (Sewer Shark, Night Trap, Sherlock Holmes), but the uniqueness wore off quickly. But there were a few titles that really sung on the little system that could. One of those was Lunar: The Silver Star. From start to finish, its compelling plot and CD-quality sound kept you coming back for more. Brilliantly designed, wonderfully captivating, and well executed. You know it's good when you draw a real emotional attachment to the main characters and are sad that the game ends. This is a game any collector or SegaCD afficinado must have.

PROS:
-Storyline is second to few
-Gameplay is in the tradition of standard JRPGs like Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger
-Diversity of weapons and armor pickups are enjoyable
-Audio is first-class and done in Q-Sound...a function of having a CD drive in a 16-bit era
-Characters are interesting
-The summation of all keeps you coming back for more.

CONS:
-Like most JRPGs, after you beat it once, there's little to go back for. It's like watching a good movie. It'll be awhile before you want to watch it again.
-Nothing else that I can think of.

Again, this is a must-have game for any SegaCD owner. It was probably the single best experience I had on my SegaCD. I hope you get the same experience out of it too.
