Great way to kill long trips...

Here's something you might want to know: If you are going on a 14 hour drive, take something to do during the trip! If it wasn't for Lumines and Twisted Metal, I've have gone mad on my band trip. After playing solidly, I'm pretty sure that I can review it. Lumines looks like a simple Tetris spin-off. some brightly coloured pieces fall from the top, and it's your job to try and stop them from hitting the top. It looks simple, but there's alot more to it. The idea is to group the colours of the pieces together to make rectangles. Oce you've got some rectangles, the timeline will pass by to clear it.The game is so simple that you know it will succeed. there are a few different ways to play. there is normal challenge mode, where you try to progress through all of the skins. Single skin mode is where you just play one of the skins that you've unlocked. Puzzle mode is where you have to try to make patternswith the peices. I've never been able to complete this mode. You can also play against the computer. This is where the game shines. you have to make as many rectangles as possible, because who ever makes the most on one swipe of the time line get their play area enlarged. The game is one of the most addictive games I've ever playes, but the multi-player is thin. There's no online mode. Graphically the game isn't much. Each of the skins has its own 2 colours, and background. The problem is, sometimes it's almost impossible to see your pieces on the background. Just look at the Please Return My CD skin. you can barely tell where your peices are. If it wasn't for, that, the score would have been higher. The other probles is that the frame rate seems to dip for no reason. You will be playinbg normally, then suddenly the entire game slows down for a second, then it speeds up again. The sound is great. Cool music for each of the skins. It's pretty much always up beat. The only problem is, there aren't many sound effects. Lumines is solid, but it does have a couple of problems. There aren't alot of ways to play, and it can sometimes be hard to see your peices. Other than that, this is a great game, and deffinately worth a purchase.
