One of the most original games on PSP.

LocoRoco has style in spades. It is a relentlessly cute game starring a singing blob in a happy little world. It is played primarily by using the L and R buttons to tilt the world causing said blob to roll through hills and other obstacles. Additionally, the blob can jump and, in order to fit through tight corridors, it can split up into little pieces and form back together when the time is appropriate. All of this is accomplished in two dimensions using only three buttons on the PSP. This is perhaps the strangest game I've ever played and is 100% worth playing for that reason alone.

The goal in LocoRoco is to collect various items throughout the worlds. A few enemies hinder your progress but overall your blob faces very little danger in that regard. In fact, it is extremely easy to coast through the game and most people other than young children will be able to do so in a small handful of hours. Challenge isn't really what LocoRoco is about and the focus here is on exploration and item collection, which lends ample reason to replay levels that are already completed.

Overall, the lack of challenge for a simple playthrough ultimately made that aspect of the game feel a bit hollow. However, if you are one who likes to explore every nook and cranny of every level, LocoRoco offers a great deal of charm and really can't be beat in terms of creative presentation.
