Not a sophisticated shooter by any means, but still fun!!

When I first picked up this game last fall, I played it for a while, but agreed with the bad reviews. I picked it back up recently and now I'm really having a lot of fun with it. Maybe my expectations are more in line with the game, but I'm finding that playing through this game is definately entertaining.

This game reminds me of a cross between PainKiller: Hell Wars and Darkwatch (both from the original XBox). So this game does play like a last generation shooter, but I happen to really like both of those games. Shooting werewolves and beheading them just never gets old for me. There are some puzzle aspects that you need to figure out too, like shooting wires to bring down platforms, and hacking mechanisms to make the creatures fight on your side for a limited amount of time, etc.

Yes the game is very linear, and especially in the early stages of the game, it is very obvious that the griffins that are picking people off the street is happening in the background and there is no fear of you being a target. But once you begin to progress through the game, you need to deal with each of these creatures, and some of them can be quite tough until you figure out what their weakness is.

You are always fighting two forces in this game at the same time. The creatures that were released from Pandora's Box (werewolves, Griffins, Minitours, etc) as well as the sharp shooting army working for the man behind the capture of Pandora's Box, who has a hit out on you.

Online is designed the same way. It felt like the multiplayer in Doom 3 with werewolves thrown in that attack everyone, while you and your team tries to defeat the other team. Online was pretty fun too in an original XBox sort of way.

If you enjoy shooters, and espiecally if you liked the shooters from the original XBox era, then I would suggest you give this game a try. You can find it now for between $20 & $30 bucks. Just know that it feels very much like a last generation shooter with a very cool premise. If you can accept that, then this game will be worth playing through for you.

Like another reviewer said, once Gamecock gets more experience under their belt, I think they will be a force to be reckoned with. If this game could have this exact story and gameplay, but with current generation Call Of Duty mechanics, it would be a candidate for game of the year.
