Raziel developed something more. Raziel developed wings. For surpassing his master Kain rewarded him: treachery and pain. With his wings broken Raziel was thrown into the River of Souls by his own brethren, as commanded by their almighty lord Kain. But what lurks beaneath those deadly waters can be Kain's demise...
As Raziel wakes up he faces something... He faces the Elder God. This supreme being tells Raziel about his grudge against Kain, and that he'll help Raziel to revenge himself since it would be a mutual gain. Thus Raziel becomes the newest "Soul Reaver", a kind of vampire that feeds on souls and can trespass from the land of the dead to the land of the living with ease. Soul Reaver is also the name of Kain's powerful sword.
As Raziel rises back to the surface he's astouned to find a destroyed Nosgoth, aeons after he was cast into that abyss. Soon he finds out that his brethren fled from Kain, who's now alone. Amongst the ruins nothing can live in peace anymore. Vampires fight amongst each other clans and the humans struggle even more to survive inside the fortress... For now every Vampire has reached different kinds of evolution, beccoming more like monsters than ever before. May your hunt begin.
The open and rich scenario makes this game one of the best PS games ever and the storyline starts what is definetely the best twists ever that took two more games to finally unveil itself completly.
So, prepare yourself to hunt Kain to the bowels of Nosgoth, and on the way conquer the very spirit of the Soul Reaver sword. The paradox is about to begin...
