The Fields of Justice are calling.

I want to start of by saying League of Legends has been one of my favorite games that I have ever played. I have played countless hours of it for the past year and a half, although I can't say I've enjoyed every match I have had loads of fun. It's a very immersive game that requires a lot of time and dedication to get better and unlock runes, masteries, and champions that will improve your game play. Playing premade characters with only four abilities that always start at level 1 every game and cap at level 18 with a set amount of money to buy a little equipment was a very new experience for me. It's awesome to take a character that's stripped to the basics and transform them into a destructive force that no one on the enemy team dares face alone. Killing minions (adorable little npcs that walk to their death constantly throughout the game) and enemy players earns you the gold and experience that you need to unlock skills and buy equipment to turn your character into a terror on the battlefield.

The champions you play as (that Riot seems to make constantly, which keeps the game fresh) are very interesting and soon you will be talking about how much you love certain ones and can't wait to play them again. Getting kills is also very fun especially when you kill the entire enemy team because of your quick thinking and reflexes which causes your team to praise and adore you. The teamwork that this game allows you to experience is extremely rewarding if done right or horrific if things go wrong.

There is also the fact that you can buy champions and skins for them with real money. When I heard that you could buy stuff with real money i was worried it would be pay to win like many free to play games but I was pleasantly surprised that you can't buy things that actually effect your character's effectiveness in games. It's always fun to see your favorite character dressed up as a Doctor or wearing a different color outfit that seems to make your champion feel special to you and look cool as you devastate the other team.

Playing with your friends can be extremely fun as well because your entire team can be made up of people you enjoy talking to and trust to have your back. But this is also a double-edged sword because you can get very frustrated with them and get into meaningless fights. But at the end of the day it's great to see the victory screen that you and your friends earned from teamwork and great game play.

When you enter a queue for a game you get matched up with 4 random people (unless you already have your own team) around your skill level based upon your performances beforehand. You then proceed to call your favored roles and quite often get into arguments about who gets to do what. One person says that they can only play in the top lane when another person has already locked in their champion of choice and says they are playing top or they will feed (suicide into the enemy team). This tends to get VERY frustrating very quickly as it seems to happen a lot. Then finally with everything sorted out the game starts.

No sooner than 3 minutes into the game your mid player dies because he wasn't paying attention. Instantly your jungle begins to bash him over and over again with insults and says the game will be over in 20 minutes (minimum time that you have to wait to surrender). This causes a destructive chain reaction between your teammates which all simultaneously start arguing. The enemy team then proceeds to slaughter everyone on your team while they're busy yelling at each other. This leads to an even bigger uproar that sends your team spiraling into defeat because everyone refuses to help each other or communicate besides the constant prattling of each other.

This is an example of the harsh reality of how terrible the community in this game seems to be almost every match you get in. Most people refuse to accept their mistakes and quickly blame others which never ends well for anyone. But no matter how bad it seems and how much you want to quit sometimes there are great people playing and most of those people that yell at you probably were just like you and are too fed up with losing and people yelling at them.

Another troublesome things that Riot always seems to have trouble with is making champions and items balanced. One day a character will be so powerful that everyone plays him/her and no one stands a chance because that character is simply too strong. Then when patch day comes around the character gets decimated by the nerf bat and is completely unplayable anymore. Then an item is so powerful that almost every role requires you use it so you aren't significantly weaker than your opponent. Then finally the long awaited patch day comes and the item nerfed into the ground and then dropped from ever build and is forgotten in the abyss of the shop.

Despite its faults and how unbalanced it can be Riot created a game that I and many other people enjoy very much and we will all lose a lot of sleep because the Fields of Justice is always calling.
