A remake that took the original and innovated.

User Rating: 9.5 | Kirby Super Star Ultra DS
I remember playing Kirby Super Star for the SNES years ago. I've played many Kirby games, glanced at others and can say that it is my favourite. Now available for the Nintendo DS, I had to get it, and they hit the ball on its revival.
All the old games remain: Spring Breeze, Gourmet Race, Dyna Blade, The Great Cave Offensive, Revenge of Meta Knight, and Milky Way Wishes. Each retains most of what the SNES had, but with revamped graphics and some optional touch screen controls. The Arena is also back, bring the same challenge.
Four new modes have been added, Revenge of the King, Meta Knightmare Ultra, Helper to Hero, and The True Arena. Each bring a slightly new experience to the Kirby games.
As for mini-games, three new touch screen enabled games are here, Kirby Card Swipe, Kirby on the Draw, and Snack Tracks. The old two, Megaton Punch and Samurai Kirby can be unlocked later on, and give the same quick fun as they did before.
While it is not perfect, there are a few flaws. While the new game modes are nice, some are very similar to the older games. Meta Knightmare Ultra makes you go through the five full original adventures as Meta Knight, ending with only one new boss. Revenge of the King has a very similar feel to Spring Breeze, just with different layouts and different non-copy enemies and mini-bosses. Helper to Hero and The True Arena are just arenas with different amounts of enemies and different kinds.
While the games can feel recycled, it doesn't mean you cannot have fun with them along side the originals. All together it has great value, ten games (putting the Arena and True Arena together), five mini games, and multiplayer with or without the game, as all mini-games and Spring Breeze can be played without the cartridge
I had a great time playing this again, and I recommend any fans to go out and buy it, you won't be disappointed!
