Kingdom Hearts has surprised me.

User Rating: 7.5 | Kingdom Hearts PS2
Kingdom Hearts is a really ambitious project. Who would have thought that Square and Disney would partner up to make a game? Much less, one that was actually playable...even, dare I say, good?

Square has been known for years for it's interesting anime-esuqe titles and Disney for it's cartoons. Mix them together, and you have Kingdom Hearts.

Somehow it works. Don't ask me how.

You start out as a young teen living on a group of islands, and hanging out with his best friends; Riku, and Kairi.

Now, Riku is probably the toughest fifteen-year-old ever, and, he's pretty much the coolest guy in this entire series (I'm allowed to biased, it's a review). He kicks so much butt that it's freaking ridiculous.

Kairi, while somewhat obnoxious at times, is an endearing character too. At least to me. She proves herself to be selfless and brave before the end (of the game).

Sora himself is sort of dorky. (Not that that's a bad thing, I am too. haha)
He is sort of a loud-mouth and is almost always really sure that he's right, which can be annoying. But he's brave, and compassionate, and despite my first impressions, he's grown on me.

After two days on the islands, the world is suddenly plunged into darkness, and Sora comes into the possession of the mysterious Keyblade.

I've played through this game about five times, and based on that, I'll give the breakdown:

Story: 8.5/10
The story, to me, is the most important aspect of a game.
Kingdom Hearts does not disappoint.
The story is well-written, and filled with memorable and unique characters.
However, some of the Disney characters did not fit so well (mostly Pooh Bear).
It has a couple really good twists.

Gameplay: 8.5/10
This game is really enjoyable and very character-driven (just how I like it).

Graphics: 7/10
Good looking for the time.
Of course, they are just right for the Disney characters.

Sound: 9/10
I really love the music in this game. The sound effects are good, and the voices are really good for the most part.

Replayability: 6/10

Overall: 7.9
Kingdom Hearts is a really good game. It's fun for anyone who loves a good story or grew up on Disney.
