Kingdom Hearts is a really good game, especially since Square Enix has really brought the Disney characters to life.

When I first heard about this game, i had the same reaction as almost the majority of the people. They really thought this game was corny for having the Disney characters mixing with Square Enix characters, and i have to admit that i started to have doubts about this game. I thought tthat the image of Disney would be ruined by this game. So i never really tried this game out. But after like 3 years after the games release i tried this game out and i was really impressed by everything the moment i started playing the game. Im going to be very brief about the story. You start out as a boy named Sora, and along the way he meets Donald and Goofy. So they journey together to find what they are looking for.

The gameplay was fairly simple and is not confusing to gamers. It's not as complicated as one would expect. In the beginning of the game, you are required to choose out of 3 items, which one you want to choose, and which one you want to give up. These items can affect what abilites you inherit during the course of the game. These 3 items are Strength, Defense and Magic. You have a menu at the bottom left corner of the screen, and you can select the action you want to perform. There are 3 options which consist of Attack, Magic and Items. The 4th option is available dpeending on the abilities you have for Sora. The game is also more or less like Pokemon. You gain levels and as you you get more experience, you Defense goes up and so does your Strength. There are other categories which can also increase such as your Magic and others as well. There are also at certain levels where you gain abilites for Sora, and this depends on what items you chose at the beginning of the game. The Experience Points also applies to Donald and Goofy which can really help you in the long run. I think Square have managed to make an amazing gameplay which should be fun for everyone to play. There were 2 particular things in which the gameplay was affected. You hvae all heard of the camera problems for Kingdom Hearts. I thought it was ok, but at times, it did get a bit annoying because sometimes you would be behind this enemy and you woudnl't know where you were. The other thing which i didn't like was the Gummi Ship. I just hated controlling the Ship. I felt that it was pointless and not needed for the game.

Graphics aren't jaw dropping, considering the fact that this game was made in 2002. But it still holds up and I'm sure that the graphics were pretty good to people around 2002. The character models were done fantastically. There were at times that the characters really seemed realistic. I really saw this during the battle with Ursula in Atlanitica. When i faced her the second battle, it was just amazing to see the way her mouth and face moved. They made it really realistic which really impressed me. The Disney characters really look like themselves, so no complaints here. I really think the graphics were well done overall. The characters were great and so were the environments from the Disney movies. i think they did a good job of making the Disney places. I think the graphics were pretty good.

There is no need to describe the sound. Because i think that speaks for itself......Actually i think i'll talk about the sound. The sound was amazing, especially since Disney was working with Square to provide the voices for the characters. That is the part which brought the characters to life. Because we have seen the Disney characters form the past, and we all like seeing them again which brings back old memories. They also have the themes from the Disney cartoons as well. Such as the song "Under the Sea" from "Little Mermaid." I think they have done a good job involving the sound of characters and the themes. Overall the sound is well done.

I REALLY recommend that PS2 owners buy this game. It's a Greatest Hit game now. So i suggest that you should buy this game and it's really cheap. I only got it for $30 CAD. I had doubts about this game as well, but some friends told me to try this game, and so I did. This game really impressed me from the start and i think you should buy this game for your PS2. Anyways since Kingdom Hearts 2 is due out next month, i think you should hurry up to the store and go right now and buy this game. A job well done by Square and Disney.
