Serious contender for the best in the series, love it.

User Rating: 10 | Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep PSP
Birth by Sleep is not only one of the best games in the series to date, but one of the best games made for the PSP. the game is a prequel and fills in on unexplained plotlines ,while adding a few in for future games.

The new gameplay is great. The command deck where you add special attacks, that can be activated by just pressing triangle. Shotlocks are activated by holding both shoulder buttons, and you target any enemys you wish to hit. They can also be altered in the menu. this is all topped off with superb graphics and voice acting in and out of cutscenes.

The plot is split into 3 different characters storylines: Terra, Ventus and Aqua. and each excel in an area of combat. Terra relies on brute strength, Ventus on speed and agility and Aqua with her powerful magic. every character visits brand new disney and original worlds, each with their own story for the different characters to play through. after all three storys are completed a final ending can be played through, which properly concludes the game. a secret ending can be unlocked too, if the player has met all the requirements. this ending is a look forward to newer games in the near future.

Mirage Arena serves as the multiplayer mode for the game , for local play only aswell as a single player world. There are a few different modes that friends can play together. versus mode pits 2-4 players against eachother in a deathmatch sort of play. arena mode can be played alone or with friends, where the player must fight rounds of unversed (the games Villains) until there is boss fight at the end. rumble racing can be played, aswell as the very fun command board game (which are taken from the story). every time a mode is played medals are awarded, which can be used at the mirage arena moogle shop for more attacks etc..

the only fault is the load times. They can get very tedious after awhile. though installing data can help slightly, it only makes a little bit difference, but do it anyway!!

Overall, BBS is a great game. it lives up to expectations and is a more than worthy addition to the series. the graphics are comparable to the PS2 and the voice-acting is great with the likes of Leonard Nimoy, Jesse Mcartney returning once again and also Mark Hamill from the star wars saga. must have game, whether a KH fan or not.

PS. Gamespot were harsh, the rating is AT LEAST an 8.5
