Just Cause 2 is perfect for anyone who just wants to blow some crap up.

In Just Cause 2 you will play as Rico Rodriguez, an agent who is sent to the Pacific Island of Panau to track down his former mentor Tom Sheldon. Panau is an interesting environment, it consists mainly of tropical jungle, as well as dry deserts and snowy mountains. It is also absolutely enormous, probably at least four times larger than Grand Theft Auto IV's Liberty City.

Rico is armed primarily with a grappling hook, and seeming unlimited parachutes. The grappling hook can be used to quickly get onto a building, and when combined with the parachute, you get a very unusual, yet useful form of transportation: the parachute will keep you in the air, and the grappling hook will allow you to "slingshot" yourself around. And speaking of equipment, Rico can also dual wield any combination of one-hand weapons: pistols, shotguns, submachine guns, etc. This means that when you are blasting away at baddies, you can soften them up with a pistol, and blow them to pieces with a shotgun. There are also two-handed weapons, though most of them are utterly useless with the exception of the assault rifle. Just Cause 2 also has 104 unique vehicles to drive, including cars, bikes, boats, planes and helicopters. The cars are difficult to control due to the games poor physics, and the bikes can be tricky as well because of the way the camera tilts when you turn. The planes however, are very fun to use and it never gets old doing flips and barrel rolls.

The game constantly encourages you to cause chaos by blowing government property to smithereens using triggered explosives or grenades. In fact, to progress through the game you will actually need to cause chaos and fill your "chaos meter" which will unlock the next mission for the agency. This is incredibly slow however, so the best way to fill the chaos meter is to help the local factions: The Roaches; an organized crime syndicate, The Reapers; a communist revolutionary army, and the Ular boys; an indigenous tribe that seems rather un-indigenous. These faction missions aren't exactly side missions, but as mentioned earlier, they will help the chaos meter fill up, allowing you to progress through the story, and unlock equipment, which you can order from your black market dealer. Every time you call him, an annoying cutscene of the dealer flying in with his chopper will play, and although it is possible to skip, it is still a pain.

The graphics of Just cause 2 are beautiful. There is pretty, lush jungles, and very intense, blue oceans. The explosions look nice as well, which is good, because you are going to be seeing a LOT of them. Scattered through Panau is 300+ settlements, ranging from small civilian villages to massive Navy bases. Whenever you collect all crates and blow up everything in one of these settlements, you will receive a very satisfying "Settlement complete" message with cool, agent-like music playing in the background. It is really addictive getting 100% in these spots, and it can also be difficult trying to find the last crate or destructible object to get it, particularly on the maze-like oil rigs.

Just Cause 2 features a very forgiving lock-on system that will allow you to easily hit enemies, which is great, since you will often be fighting up against near-impossible odds. This isn't helped by the fact that enemies seem to be able to take way too many bullets to kill, especially the "boss" enemies such as the colonels, ninjas (seriously, I'm not joking!) and these three near invincible enemies that are only just short of invincible. I think that it is safe to say that Just Cause 2 features some of the worst boss fights I have seen for a while. Your grappling hook is also a lethal weapon! You can use it to attach two objects together, such as a car to a helicopter, an enemy to a car, or best of all, an enemy to a propane tank, which can be shot and then sent flying away.

It is also worth mentioning that Just Cause 2 has some on the worst voice acting on the face of the planet. Some of the accents are REALLY bad, but rather than pressing the mute button, you'll probably find yourself just laughing at it. Speaking of sound, the gunshots in Just Cause 2 sound rather strange, like as if they where being fired from hundreds of meters away.

This is actually a very good game. The main story alone will probably take at least 20 hours to finish, not to mention 100+ hours getting all the trophies/achievements. So what are you waiting for, strap on that parachute and prepare those explosives....

Pros:
-Massive open world ready to be blown up
-Great mission variety
-Huge amount of content

Cons:
-Bad story and voice acting
-Cars handle poorly
