Juiced review
This is a game made by THQ and juice games. The story ia you are a racer in Angel city and you are trying to make it big. The first guy that you encounter is T.K of the urban maulerz. He's fairly easy to beat. After that you will begin your career as a racer. You have three types of challenges, normal race, sprint and showoff. Normal race is what is. You race at a circuit or point to point race. Sprint is basically a drag race. Showoff is where you score points by doing tricks with your car. The racing works ok the controls are somewhat sharp. The collision detection is solid. You can make drivers crash if you slipstream them enough which adds to the games playability. You earn cash whenever you finish a race and here is where the problems hide. You need cash for everything. upgrades, repairs and event fees which eats up your money constantly. When you don't have anymore cash, you are in a tight spot and you can't do anything about it and you might have to start from square one again. You can make bets with the other drivers which can be helpful but you have no control over it and you can't cancel it or else it takes away your respect. You also have respect which you earn from winning races. Whenever you have enough respect, crew leaders will grant you permission to race on their area. However you can lose respect also by performing badly or hitting other drivers on the road. An interesting mechanic is you can hire other drivers for races. .But you have to let them use one of your cars; that is if the game didn't clean out all of your money. The event calendar is where it all all happens, its where you select races. But theres one drawback, Whatever race you finish of you can't re-enter it. This is counterintuitive if you're backtracking to earn enough cash to buy upgrades and that adds to the games fustration factor. The graphics are decent rendering the whole city altogether and some of the liscenced music is good. But if you try to play one of your songs on your hard drive it will crash the game. Juiced has solid gameplay but the career mode warrants a rental and that will make you race far away from this game.
