Twins in space

Jet Force Gemini was developed for the nintendo 64 exclusively by RARE. Again they came up with a wonderful, colorful and very playable game. The game is about intergalactical twins who try to free the universe from the evil dictator Mizar and his ant-army. You start of playing with the boy character Juno and later unlock his twin sister Vela and their dog Lupus. Juno can walk through Lava, Vela can swim in water and Lupus can hover for a short time, so each of them can go to parts of the game the others can't. The game is really beautiful with nice environments and warm colors. You travel through forests, marshes, spaceships, vulcanoes, deserts and military bases. The levels are very linear and you have to revisit them with different characters. In each level there are little bears you have to rescue and parts of an ancient spaceship you need to find to finish the game. The game is a mix of platforming and shooting and there also are minigames like racing and such. The weapons the twins have at their disposal are brutal. You start of with regular machineguns, but soon you'll use grenades and rockets. The shooting isn't very difficult since there almost always is enough ammo, but it's so much fun to see an ant explode with a disgusting sound. The ant have great a.i., they 'll look for cover and attack in groups. Also i'd like to mention that you can choose which level you want to play which is very nice. The game has a two-player mode, but this wasn't really necessary in my opion. I'm not into third person shooter multiplayer, it doesn't work. You can also race against a friend, but if you want to do that, you're better of playing a real racegame. To conclude: Jet Force Gemini is wonderful videogame which i liked more then other RARE games as Banjo Kazooie or Donkey Kong 64. It's a lot of fun the entire game as you unlock new levels, new characters and defeat massive endbosses. It's a shame RARE doesn't make games for a Nintendo system anymore, they were the best. Jetforce Gemini is a gem.
