Believe the Hype! This Strat RPG is BEAUTIFUL!!!
graphics: its a mix of classic anime cutscenes and super deformed characters fighting it out on a lush and detailed 3d landscape. I havent seen any clipping nor are your characters hidden from view since you have total control of your camera's movement and 2x zooming. All the skills look great in execution and the character design is typical for rpgs but then again it's level 5 so it is also typically very well done.
sound: the music is moving, the sound effects are timed right and not rehashed, plus the voice acting is refreshing as the voice-actors dont all ham it up but it does happen in the funniest times for effect.
gameplay: this is THE BEST SRPG ON PSP bar none. lotr tactics was an overdose of media seen on everything, d&d tactics was so complicated, field commander took itself too seriously... this is simple and fun.
production: I've been playing rogue galaxy on ps2 and if you have too, or even dark cloud 2, then you know the level 5 people are masters of their craft. They shine here.
I set aside D&D tactics to wait for this game and I was right cuz it would have spoiled my appetite for the SRPG goodness Jeanne D'arc exudes. The game may be a little easy for longtime srpg players but it is a joy to see this spectacle unfold on your psp. You know how certain games define a platform? Like Final Fantasy VII did the psone and god of war does the ps2, well this game will be one of the few that will be known to define the psp.
