This game could have been great...

At first glance I thought I'd really, really enjoy this game. I absolutely loved the first one and also love Ratchet & Clank. The new dark tone in this was one a nice move as it helped push the series in a bit different direction than RC. The graphics in this game are top notch. Yet, I just couldn't get into it over the long haul.

I'll admit, I didn't finish this game which is rare for me. I got quite bored with the quests and I actually just got tired of having to repeat the same things over and over because of the difficulty level. I truly can't stand games that waste my time with this kind of repetition. You'd get so far in a quest and then hit a hard spot and die. Because of the level design you'd nearly always have to start over from the beginning. In the next round you'd get a little farther but might die again so, of course, you have to do the whole thing over again. This just gets old after a while especially when your environment doesn't really change all that much.

I'm the kind of person that feels that if a lot of the game time played is merely in repetition of the same part then the game hasn't been designed well. I sort of feel like they copped out a bit by increasing the difficulty so it would take all of us longer to play.

This game could have been so much better made though the story is pretty good.
