User Rating: 9.1 | Jak II: Renegade PS2
In Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, the game was slight in the story-driven area and was made far, far too easy and simplistic. Your basic platformer. Jak 2, however, has very little in com...Aww hell! Who am I trying to kid? It's completely different in most every single aspect possible. Oh course, that's a good thing. Jak 2 picks off where the last left off. You have just saved the world from horrible Dark Eco, your changed partner Daxter has accepted his transformed fate of being...well, something, and you have just made a remarkable discovery: Some sort of Precursor vessal. You soon realize, from trial, I should add, that it is a time machine, transporting you into the future. Then, to add to your trouble, Jak is taken hostage and pumped full of Dark Eco by the Baron of your new habitat in attempt to create the strongest warrior possible. Once freed, you get to reek revenge. Oh yeah! The gameplay and features are now totally re-vamped. They take a page from Grand Theft Auto with the ability to comandeer a small but fair amount of vehicles within Haven City(Your new local for this installment) and with 4 different weapons(Including a shotgun-type & machine gun-type), you can go around shooting pedestrians and enemies the like. Just don't expect blood or bodies. I mean, come on, this is Jak 2 we're talking about. Expect some reprecussions, though. Haven City has the Krimzon Guards, the law enforcment of the city whom seem to live by the motto "Shoot first; Ask questions later!" You'll also be able to utilize your new "Dark Jak" powers to take down foes, using a few different abilities. There is also a HoverBoard(Obviously like a skateboard) and the most compelling part of this game, unlike its predecessor, is the story. Trust me when I say, you'll be enjoying every part of it and laughing at every one of Daxter's jokes, which have become more mature. With all these new features, an amazingly awesome and darker story, great graphics and some quality humor and memorable characters, this game is at least a must-play, if not a must-buy. Remember, don't always judge games on their previous titles.
