Jak 2 is the best game in the series to date.

User Rating: 10 | Jak II: Renegade PS2
Jak 2, the sequel to one of Naughty Dog's best-selling games, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, is, by far, the best game in the series. It takes place two years after its predacessor, and begins when Jak escapes from the local prison with the help of his best friend, Daxter. There, he has been experimented on with Dark Eco by Baron Praxis, and can now change into "Dark Jak", a monstrous, more powerful form of himself. The main plot of the story is to seek revenge on the Baron as he completes different missions both in and outside of Haven City, the game's main setting. The story has many surprising twists, and is also instantly addicting. The game also looks great; the characters and settings are a lot more detailed then the ones in the first game in the series. In addition to his dark powers, Jak also gets a gun that can change into four different guns, each one powerful in its own way. He also gets a hoverboard that is the most suggested mode of transportation in some of the game's many missions. The game overall has a Grand Theft Auto series feel to it, since you can shoot at almost anything that moves, and the player can also steal the cars that are flying around in the city. One of the game's biggest flaws, though, is the mission difficulty. For the most part, the missions have just the right difficulty. But still, some of the missions get really difficult, and one needs a high level of skill to complete it. Overall, I give the game a 10.0 because its graphics are absolutely stunning, and it also has such a large leap away from Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy that it makes it look like a totally different game added to a series that was great to begin with.
