Takes what's good with Jak II and rolls with it, making a few solid additions along the way

User Rating: 9 | Jak 3 PS2
Jak 3 is a fitting end to the Jak and Daxter trilogy. It is largely similar to Jak II but this is not a bad thing at all. A few nice additions are made, including the wasteland portion of the game and the dune buggies, and a solid story wraps up the trilogy nicely.

Visual/Audio
More of what has come to be expected of this series. Amazing character models, environments, voice acting, and sound effects. Truly top of the line.

Gameplay
If it's not broke don't fix it. This is the approach that Naughty Dog took with Jak 3 and it works out fine. A few additions round out the solid gameplay here, including the previously mentioned dune buggies and a significant amount of new gun types. Each of the four guns from Jak II is back with two upgradeable forms each, taking the number of guns from four in Jak II to twelve in Jak 3. The difficulty of the missions in Jak 3 is noticeably easier than Jak II but it is still far from being an easy game.

Narrative
Another solid story with most of the amazing characters from Jak II making a return, plus some new ones that fit in seamlessly. There aren't as many twists and turns in this game as there were in Jak II but the story is still better than the vast majority of other games out there. There is also a twist near the end of this game that fans of the series will highly enjoy. Overall a great conclusion to the trilogy.

Jak 3 is a very high quality game. The gameplay is almost identical to that of Jak II but the small additions that have been made add to the fun. The story isn't quite as amazing as Jak II but it is still very good. The Jak and Daxter series is one of the greatest trilogies on the PS2 and Jak 3 is a fitting conclusion.
