Amazing arcade racer, probably the best one ever made, and that takes the role of an anime series.

Review: Wow, this game was amazing, and when it comes to the story line Sega pulls off a great one. Initial D: Special Stage, Is a Japanese racing game for the PS2, It originally came out in arcades around the globe and was then released for consoles mostly in Asia and the UK. The gmae takes you in the role of the driver Takumi Fujiwara or "Tak" for short. The vehicle you first use is a Toyota Trueno AE86 which Tak got from his father. The game is all about drifting on downhill roads throught out Japan.

Hills make an excellent drifting turf because you gain speed easily and theres lots of wide turns. As you race and progress through the main story mode you can gain style points and certain people in the crowd will compliment you on how well you did overall, kind of like how you gain style points on Need for Speed Underground for example. The game has no multiplayer support but does bring the best classic arcade style you would want in racing games now a days. The other modes of play are Arcade,Story,Time Trial,Battle Mode, and the options menu that would be on most games.

The only other multiplayer support there ever was, Is when your in the arcade with someone and you and whoever hold down the break for about 10 seconds and then this allows you to go head to head in curcuit style race with two AI controlled racers on agaisnt each other in Intense Head to Head races. The graphics in the game are decent but not perfect but to me graphics don't seriously matter because the game is awesome in many ways.

As you progress through the game you unlock special things such as more music to complete the real good Techno/J-Rock soundtrack, while in Battle Mode you unlock special parts and the other vehicles for the game, you basically get upgrades in an RPG-Style for your cars. Basically you gain points and as you do you unlock certain items such as; Mufflers,Spoilers,Engine tune ups, and wheels, something you would expect in your casual racing game.

Overall this game is really good and easy to recommend to people who like the anime or for people who love drifting or arcade style racers, I hope you enjoyed my review for Initial D: Special Stage
