User Rating: 9 | Hunter: The Reckoning Redeemer XBOX
First of all, I'd like to say that Gauntlet is my all time favorite arcade game and I love multi-player hack-n-slash type games, so I'm a big fan of the first Hunter, and Redeemer is a more than worty sequel. The graphics are definitely sharper, and improvements have been made in the camera angles and camera control in multi-player. On-line play would have made this game a 10, but having downloadable content (there are new hunter costumes ready to download from day one) adds significant replay value. Having the ability to level up your melee, ranged, and edge attacks to match your style of play is a nice addition. Overall, this game has kept what made the original so much fun (the hack and slash) and added enough depth and unlockables to make it a great sequel and worthy of a higher score than the first. Presentation - Just like the first game, very dark, gothic, and scary. An interesting story helps you really get into the game. Graphics - The graphics are sharper than last year and camera angles and control have improved. Sound - Nice weapon sounds, good rock music when the action gets intense, and great cutscenes. My only request is adding voice to the characters (playable and nonplayable) during the actual game play. Gameplay - Still great hack-n-slash action! Upgradable melee, ranged, and edge abilities based on how much you use them adds to the fun. Replay Value - With 5 hunters to start with, 2 unlockable hunters, several unlockable monsters, and Xbox Live downloadable content, this game has a ton of replay value...especially in multi-player!
