I picked up The Hulk after seeing the movie, and having a bit of knowledge of the Hulk's comics I felt this would be a pretty hard character to mess up. Well, Radical didn't let me down, as this game packs every ounce of smashing action from the Hulk that I could have imagined. I think the only thing I missed was being able to taunt with "Hulk Smash!", but alas this was based on the movie so I'd get no satisfaction from a talking Hulk. The first thing you will notice about The Hulk is the graphics. Using a modified take on cel shading, The Hulk has a very unique look that is able to give it a distinct comic book feel while still fleshing the game out in full 3D. I really liked the new tecnique and how it gave some additional depth over traditional cel shading. The meat of the game is obviously in controlling the Hulk and basically destroying everything in your path. The game does a great job of giving you enemeies and environments to pummel, and you can stay in an area and beat enemies down for as long as you like before moving on. The levels are all very linear, but it's great to smash through walls to the next section. The other half of the game allows you to control Bruce Banner in some stealth levels. While they are a nice break at times, they are typically very short and sometimes frustrating. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the Hulk, even if it lacked any real depth of gameplay. Just being able to control the Green Goliath and pound my enemies into the ground was reward enough for me. I recommend this game to any fan of The Hulk!
