This is quite possibly the most broken game in existence...

As in, broken to the point where it is nearly unplayable.

It's not that I have anything against the Hitman series, on the contrary, Blood Money is one of my favorite games. It's just that Hitman 2 is simply an absolute mess.

Guards have superhuman senses, many times detecting me through walls - when I was in sneak mode in pitch darkness! This is a problem, since detection in many missions either is or causes an instant failure.

Several missions either put innocent civilians in your way, or enemies who you are not allowed to kill. The problem is, the only non-lethal weapon in the game, the anaesthetic, requires getting behind the enemy, and there is incredibly little chance of that (you can only approach someone undetected by coming up behind them in sneak mode - and sneaking makes you move around half as fast as a patrolling guard. In other words, it just isn't happening). If by some freak chance you do apply the anaesthetic, the enemy will only be knocked out for around a second and a half, after which he will get up, sound the alarm, and kill you.

Several missions also require you to eliminate the target from afar, meaning a sniper. Unfortunately, this necessary item is impossible to conceal, making any disguise you have worthless.

In all, the only enjoyment I got out of this game was when my target seemed to have taken care of himself while playing Russian Roulette. I don't know if this was scripted or a glitch, but it was still entertaining.

But that was it. The only other feeling I got out of Hitman 2 was incredible frustration at cheap death after cheap death, unavoidable failure after unavoidable failure, and the sheer unplayability of this broken "game."

I'm just glad that Eidos made all the key elements usable for further installments.
