Hexic HD with a make-over

User Rating: 8 | Hexic 2 X360
The Good: New cool look, Battle modes are fun, Online play
The Bad: Pretty much the same as Hexic HD, AI can be quite challenging in the battles, High price for so little change

Anyone who owns a 360 will have played Hexic HD, so for this review i am just going to write a comparison between the 2. The first thing you will notice when playing Hexic 2 is the new look, personally i like it alot more than the first as it looks more mature in a way, compared to Hexic HD that's bright and colourful. The game has what Hexic HD had, Time Attack, Marathon and Survival. What Hexic 2 adds is battle mode, this is basically you and the AI (or other player) facing off to fill the bar on the side of the screen, to do this you must get rid of more tiles, and make life for your opponent harder. This is actually quite alot of fun, especially with other players, whilst you play you fill up energy tanks that enable you to use power ups (such as bombs, border slider, tile lock and a blue one that knocks all your tiles off), each power up has its own colour, red, yellow, green or blue, in order to fill these you must get rid of that colour tile, once you get to a certain level you can use them adding a new depth to the battle mode gameplay.

As ive said these battle modes can be taken online which makes the whole gaming experience with hexic 2 alot more fun.

Sadly if you do not have a gold account you are stuck battling with the AI which is insanely difficult at times (Expert is incredibly hard) which kinda kills the fun.

In conclusion this game is definitely not worth the 800 price tag as it doesn't add enough for it to be worth that much. If you don't have XBOX Live gold i wouldnt even give this a second glance as what makes it really different to Hexic HD is the ability to go online. If you've got 800 point laying around and you want an online puzzle game then i guess this wouldn't be the worse choice, but generally, you could buy much better games with the points.
