Virtual concert with virtually no gameplay.

User Rating: 5 | Hatsune Miku VR: Future Live PS4

It looks great, but doesn't offer anything else. It's a 1 time experience that costs 40$.....

I am not going to lie, I was very excited to play it for the first time. I've been pretty happy about replaying the songs I liked (although, with that selection, that I JUST PLAYED IN PREVIOUS GAMES,there's little to choose from, that I didn't already hear too many times in last few weeks). In short, I've payed for about 3 hours and lost interest (First time that has ever happened with a Hatsune Miku game, and I've got them all...).

Pros:

  • VR Concert experience.
  • Music and choreography you probably like if you're looking into this game.

Biggest problems:

  • Each songs costs a lot more than in previous games. For comparison:
    • PSP and PS3 titles (where you had up to 40 songs and in some cases more and the game cost 40-50$) 1 song would cost you around 1.3$.
    • Project Diva X 30 songs (5 of which are medleys), which means 1 song is 1.5$.
    • Future Live has 20 songs and they cost 40$ (if you buy the bundle), which makes 1 song cost 2$ (price is higher if you buy song packs separately).
  • This game is hard to call a "game" because there is virtually no gameplay that is comparable to any of previous games. You just shake a controller to match the rhythm/surrounding virtual audience. You can also "sing" along, or in reality terrify your neighbors with spastic screams without realizing it......
  • There's little replay value to the songs, because there's no real challenge (or gameplay for that matter), which reduces the value of these (expensive) song packs even lower.

Smaller problems:

  • Most viewing positions are useless. You move into preset positions (cannot just slide slightly to the left for instance) and singers move A LOT! Either you'll watch it from a distance or (if you want closeup experience) prepare to turn pretty much 360° where you sit, because they will walk through the closest positions ALL THE TIME and in some songs fly all across the building (and keeping up with them is a pure nuisance.
  • Songs are reused! First 3 stage packs mostly feature old songs, with old dance routines (although there are a few new moves), which leads to me to believe barely any (extra) work has been put into this title. Everything's apart from game core itself, it feels like everything has been ported from previous games. They are basically overcharging for OLD SONGS.

Conclusion

In my eyes this game lost some major points on gameplay and on replayability value. I mean, If you only release 20 songs for 40$, you better make some good use of those....

It's only a great experience, if you feel that the price of 40$ for a few hour game is okay.
