So I Ignored The Reviews And Baught The Game. Why, Oh Why Didn't I Listen To Them!!!!
Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince could have been amazing. I was expecting more spells than The Order Of The Pheonix, not less. I was expecting more quests than The Order Of The Pheonix, not less. I was expecting more fun than The Order Of The Pheonix. But did I get it? No!
You'l do four main activities in this game: Dueling, Potion Making, Quidditch and Searching for Mini Crests. The Dueling is similar to the previous game for the Wii, albeit simplafied. There are only five spells this time around, and it all comes down to Casting a body binding curse, or levicorpus, which essentialy imobalise your oponent temporaraly. Then you attack with your quick/weak spell, Stupify, until he/she falls to one knee. Then you attack with a spell that uses scarlet light to disarm an openent in the book. However, in this game, it sends a golden meteor whizzing through the air. And the fact that you can now only duel one person at a time is not an improvement. It really just makes the whole thing boring and tedious.
Little (massive, really) changes from the book and a chopy, poorly told version of the story mean you'l be struglling to understand what just happened. The cutscenes are poorly done, with most of them involving characters telling other characters about crucial moments that definitly deserved to be vewed properly. And absalutely horrible dialoge means that even though Danial, Rupert and Emma reprised their roles, they are kept from shining.
Potion Making is better, surprisingly takes a while to get boring. You'l have created most of the potion challanges before it becomes a chore. The game does a great job of re-creating the feel of making potions. You will shake, pour, grab, drop, stir and fan the heat of your couldren. And it is really fun.
Next on the list is Quidditch. Poor. Very poor. You fly through hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop after hoop.
You skipped those few lines? You'l wish you could skip the quidditch. You can't play any other posision, so quiditch gets old really really fast. And so the mini quest collecting. You'l preform six actions to get crests. And That. Is. It.
Unlike it's predecesser, this game does not get any better as it goes on. The ending is a (suposudly) climactic battle between Bellatix and Harry. Why is she easyier than the hufflepuff junior duelist? At least in the other Wii Harry Potter game the Dumbledore/Voldemort was exciting and a little challanging.
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is a total letdown and was way to short.
