To me, this game just doesn't feel like Contra and more like "another Japanese clone".

Well, something in this game just doesn't feel right for me. Maybe it's the cheesy Japanese metal soundtrack (that's virtually undistinguishable from hundreds of other Japanese games with "metal" soundtrack), maybe it's dull sounds that started to annoy me after a while, maybe it's the uninspired visual style (again, I feel like I saw this a billion times before) that doesn't take advantage of PS3 at all, or maybe it's the underwhelming pacing, that just doesn't give me that adrenaline rush I was expecting.

I enjoyed Contra: Shattered Soldier on PS2 or even Contra: Hard Corps on Genesis (not to mention the original) ~SO MUCH MORE~

I've had great hopes for this game, since there's really not enough side-scrollers like this lately, but I ended up displeased and the more I played Hard Corps, the more I wanted to turn on my PS2 and play some C:SS.
I'd rent it, if that would be possible. Can't recommend a buy, unless on some special offer or if you have the craving for Contra-ish game and all your other copies got eaten by a dog or you chewed through them thousand times already.
