Addictive. surprisingly/ironically very long. Most fun I've had with an RPG in years.

This game is a series of RPG Amuse-bouche (look up definition on wikipedia, replace food with RPG, and chef with developer, this is a perfect definition of this game) linked together to form what is the best RPG experience I've had in a very very long time.

you fight evil, rescue NPCs, get loot, grind, do side quests, all in no more than 30 second time intervals (which can be extended into multiple 30 second intervals per stage by praying to the time goddess). This makes for AMAZING gameplay. There is nothing that has been done wrong here. This game takes a great conceptual idea, and executes it flawlessly. I have been playing this since release, I had no prior knowledge to the series, and have been loving it.

This game really pays homage to old JRPGs in a way that is really perfect for those of us that loved those games but just don't have the patience anymore that is required for those grindfests.

If you like RPG's a lot but don't find you have the desire to grind for long periods of time, or watch 2 hour cut-scenes buy this game without reading the review, you will enjoy. If you like RPG's at all, you should probably buy it anyways, it's $10, and chances are you will get much MUCH more than your money's worth. Anyways, here's a short standard review breakdown.

Graphics: I'll admit that I don't care much about graphics, but they serve the purpose, look nice enough to make me not skip cut-scenes. I've been playing on the Neo cartoon graphics setting, which are very crisp and fun. Look great in HD. The classic graphics don't seem to translate all that well to HD, might actually look better on a SD TV.

Sound: Intense. Fitting. Others in the room with you may find it annoying, but when you are frantically running around because you have 0.2 seconds left before the world is destroyed, you will want no other music, it fits perfect.

Game play: perfect. exhilarating. Addictive.

replay value: with multiplayer, leader boards, hundreds of different variations to missions/paths/sidequests, time trials, different play modes, etc. There is no reason to stop playing.

Multi-player: This is what really spurred me into writing this review. The multiplayer is REALLY fun and challanaging. It basically just takes the single player game, and throws 4 "heros" onto the map instead of one. Little else changes. I was getting a little tired after playing the main game for so long last night that I figured I'd give multiplayer a try before going to sleep. 10pm turned to 2am without me really noticing. This game in general is the definition of addictive game play, multiplayer is no exception.

Story: There is an evil guy teaching every other evil guy how to cast a spell that destroys the whole world. It takes 30 seconds to cast. Go to a map, there's an evil lord casting the spell, kill him in 30 seconds. That is the story of each map. Now, there is also a very nice overlying story of war, the nature of evil/good, etc. There are also little mini-stories on each map that are sometimes quite compelling. A few in particular are surprisingly so, almost on the level of old final fantasy games. Most however are upbeat and keep with the pace of a 30 second game. I like the story aspect of this game, if you don't like it though, it won't make a difference, the game doesn't require the story.

controls: basic. If you've played a video game before you should be alright.

Overall: I love this game. enough so that I'm writing a WAY too long review on it. Just go spend your $10.
