-good variety of weapons and equipment
-mysteriously interesting story that makes you want to keep playing
-numerous types of enemies with their unique strengths and weaknesses
-realistic weapon, ammunition, and health placement
-excellent enemy AI that actually behave like a human player

Bad:

-scrolling through all your weapons can be annoying
-some frustrating segments and boss battles
-some glitches where you can get "stuck" in place, forcing you to reload from a previous save
-all humans look the same
-no subtitle option

Overall:

I had never played any of the Half Life games before, and I thought I'd try the first one out after hearing so many people speak so highly of it throughout the years. I was surprised at how simple the level design and combat was, yet how addictive it stayed. It was also fascinating to imagine how revolutionary this game had to have appeared when it was first released. If you can look past the poor graphics compared to today's standards, it's a pleasure to experience this instant classic that paved the way for future FPS's.
