World Tour's dull tracklist will bore many, especially if you get the version with no songs to download.

User Rating: 7.5 | Guitar Hero World Tour (Guitar Kit) PS2
Guitar Hero World Tour is a big leap for the GH franchise considering drums and mics are now included. Also, a whole lot of new ideas have been added which don't always work.

STORY
No GH has a story, well, a real story. Legends of Rock had a whole heap of cartooned cutscenes between each venue which didn't exactly make sence. Well, there is also some sort of story here but it is so hard to understand that the cutscenes in World Tour come out as boring. Nothing in it makes sense and I'll give anyone $1000 who can tell me what it means (besides the makers ofcause!).
Progressing through the Career Mode in WT is different from previous GH games. What happens is you complete Gigs in a very annoying fasion. You have to play 5 (at the most) songs all in a row and then to unlock an Encore Song. Now the problem with this is that you can't save your progress through the gig which means playing five long songs all in a row. You may want to take a break.
But one of the worst things in World Tour is the song list. It is the most dull song list ever included in a game. Some of the songs aren't even in English because they are a different country's song. THIS ISN'T GOING TO PLEASE ANYONE SINGING, especially when you are in a gig and can't choose the song. It seems 86 ENGLISH master tracks was impossible for Activision to achieve. But even some the English songs are too long, boring and dull to keep me entertained. A lot of them I haven't even heard of and I doubt you will have either.

GAMEPLAY
To me the artwork for GH provides a sort of feel to how you play the game and I guess World Tour's isn't so bad, but more on the graphics later. At the moment I'm going to talk about what the instruments are like . . .

The GUITAR is the best there's been yet. The strumming bar is longer so it's easier to flick, there is an analog stick, plus a fantastic wammy bar which feels fantastic. Also the PAUSE and STAR POWER buttons are in very easy places which make them easy to hit. But the big news is the NECK SLIDER which is a touch pad on the neck which is easy to slide your hands down for crazy solos. The problem is that you never know when you have to put your hands back on the buttons which result in missing heaps of notes. Plus the neck slider is way to sensetive. It will respond even when you don't touch it. Great. But overall, a good guitar.

The DRUMS are good when they work but overall rubbish. They won't respond if you hit them soft and when you hit them hard they break. Don't get this game for the drums even if you are a real life drummer.

The MIC is annoying to use because the words on screen are far too small and require you to look closely at the screen to sing. (Sigh).

Moving on, there is a MUSIC STUDIO where you can create your own music. Now it is fun, but only after you realise the whole thing is useless. Making crazy stuff is more fun the fun - just pressing random notes to make a really complicated song then replaying it it is cool, but then editing it is pointless because the tutorial is so long and complicated that I don't know how anyone would even try to edit a song. Plus you can't add vocals to any song you make. Why? I have no idea. You can share the songs you make with the world but not if you have the PS2 version so overall it is truly pointless. You can also make your own rocker but the ammount of time it takes to load a feature to your rocker is, well, long.

GRAPHICS
The graphics aren't the best but considering everything that was packed into one disk, it's a good effort.

SOUND
As good as it gets. No trouble with sound whatsoever and I doubt you will either.

So that's it. You know, you may only think the PS2 version is bad because there are other versions out there which are better, but if you put those aside then you may find yourself enjoying World Tour - but not me. I'm too busy playing a better GH, Legends of Rock.
