(This is the Review of the game from the guitar because I don't really play the other instruments).

While I thought the third installment was great, this one... was not so good, I will start of with the good things the new Guitar Hero 4 Engine for hitting the buttons on the guitar is a big step up from the third one, however that's really the only highlight of this game.

The song list is decent but most of these songs should be dlc songs and what i mean by that is, for me when I am looking to buy a Guitar hero or Rock band game I am looking for a song list that is worth playing on the guitar, I want songs that are fun not 3 chords over and over again for the whole song, so what i mean by dlc songs is I know a lot of people like songs that may not be so fun on the guitar and want to play them anyways, so why not just put them up on dlc not put them on the actual game that is expensive, you could buy it for two dollars instead of 50 bucks for the whole game and there are a lot of dlc songs on this game, that's what I think, and this is where Guitar Hero 4 really was bad for me most of the songs are very repetitive and boring.

Another thing that got me really irritated was those stupid tap buttons this is the first time you get to use them on a Guitar Hero game, first off let me just say I think there just stupid, and second off they put way too much confidence into these tap buttons, when you hear a song like Billie Jean coming out for guitar hero 4 you really want to play that solo, so once you get to the solo the first part of the solo is dominated by the tap buttons, first off all who wants to use the tap buttons on a solo, and second why would they put half the solo on the tap buttons and the rest on normal buttons? so your telling me when I am playing the tap buttons really fast in the beginning of the solo, that I'm going to be able to easily slide my hands from the tap buttons to the normal buttons without having a problem and not missing any notes its a load of crap, this was one of the stupidest ideas the Guitar Hero franchise has ever come up with and this feature just killed the game for me.

Most of the solos have this in them and its ridiculous. The song list is not that bad but as i mentioned above most of these songs should be up for dlc not on a Guitar Hero game, for me these two fatal flaws(the song choices for guitar being repetitive and boring and the tap buttons) just made me lose faith in this new installment.

If your a Guitar Hero fan I would probably get this because I'm sure most fans want them all, but don't expect much. For a first time player I would probably get this also because it is a lot easier compared to the 3rd one and it would be a good game to start on. if your a fan who really liked the third one and are looking for a challenge I would not get this one. I know I am being really critical on this game but while I was playing this game it just really upset me i wanted to give it a higher grade believe me I did but i just couldn't.
