Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is a great game for any fan of the bad boys from Boston.

Let's face it. We all know who Aerosmith is. They are one of the greatest classic hard rock bands in existance, giving us gems such as Sweet Emotion, Pink, Just Push Play, Cryin', and the song everyone knows, Dream On. In 2008, everyone in the gaming community was treated with Aerosmith's own version of Guitar Hero, which later spawned other band adaptations such as Metallica and Van Halen.

Guitar Hero: Aerosmith guides you thorugh their most memorable stage performances throughout their career, which includes interviews from band members Steven Tyler (lead singer/harmonica), Joe Perry (lead guitar), Tom Hamilton (bass), Brad Whitford (2nd guitar), and Joey Kramer (drummer), from their first concert at Nipmuc High School, to their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. While there, you'll also be able to play songs from other artists such as The Clash, Lenny Kravitz, Joan Jett, The Cult, and Joe Perry himself from his solo career entitled "The Joe Perry Project". The gameplay is still the same as any other GH installment. You strum the guitar using the strum bar when the colored notes hit the bottom of the screen. You have to hold down the corresponding color button on the guitar controller in order to strum the note, otherwise it won't count. You also have to hold the button down if it's a long note. However, you don't have to strum the guitar on notes that are glowing white. Star mode is also back. As usual, if you hit enough notes shaped like stars, you will be able to use Star Power by tilting the guitar upwards. However, if you miss one star note, you won't gain any power. Miss too many notes on the song and it's game over, as indicated by the rock gauge located to the right.

The game itself is very similar to the previous installment, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, which is somewhat of a problem to many players, but all of the stages are Aerosmith themed, hence the title. Plus, there's not enough songs from other artists, as well as Aerosmith's famous songs including Dude Looks Like a Lady, Cryin', and their cover of Come Together from the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band movie, which is a movie that everyone loves to hate.

So, overall, this game maybe too familiar to veteran players, but anyone who is a fan of Aerosmith will enjoy this. If you're a veteran Guitar Hero player, you can have a go at it, but don't expect too much out of it. As for Aerosmith fans, they might get a kick out of this.
