Another Guitar Hero Game...hmmm?

Ever since Guitar Hero 2 came out for the 360 i've become addicted to the franchise and have played and owned all the games available on 360 at some point (with the exception of Smash Hits). So going into this game, it's safe to say that i'm happy with the series.

Let's start off with the good. Graphics are great, customizing characters and instruments is always fun, and being able to use your live avatar as a playable character is interesting...also like being able to set up my own band, it doesn't really benefit you and it's all flash, but it's cool being able to be myself in a band with a bunch of created chicks as opposed to a bunch of pre-created characters that I would never play in a band with...as far as this goes, I guess you gotta be a girlfriend deprived nerd to appreciate something like this...

Being able to play in bands with any instruments sounds great. I know I could give a hoot less about singing, and most of my friends too, so being able to play with 4 people and not having to designate one as a singer is always a plus.

The new side challenges in all the songs are fun. Being able to freely switch from bass to guitar in carreer prior to songs is a great feature as well, especially when you wanna try a challenge that's bass if you're playing guitar, or vice versa.

Tutorials...this applies to new people I guess, but I dig how you don't have to sit through the tutorials and listen to everything, you can fast foward-speed read through everything (and get yourself an easy achievement...).

The option to import all your downloadable content from GH:WT is awesome. I love this alot, I only wish it spanned back to previous guitar heroes that i've downloaded content for as well so that I could get Buckethead's epic masterpiece Soothsayer from Guitar Hero 3 on there and Any Way You Want it and You've Got Another Thing Coming from Guitar Hero 2...

THE BAD.

There's not really too much to complain about with the game, although i'm kinda half and half on the set list with this one. There's alot of great songs, but then there's songs I personally could care less about, and have no desire to play...this kinda applies to all Guitar Hero games (with the exception of Guitar Hero Metallica!), but a little moreso with this one I think. I like to think I have a vast appreciation for all music but playing the Gorillaz, Beck, Coldplay, Duran Duran, Beastie Boys, etc holds no appeal to me.

Another downer is that they've got some greats bands, but they just flat out picked really terrible songs...case in point...Fame by David Bowie, Under Pressure by Queen...i'd much rather prefer Ziggy Stardust and Bohemian Rhapsody...but like I said, it's all a preference to what you appreciate for music...

There's also a bunch of bands I personally have never heard of, and I like checking out everything, but some of these no namer bands they've put into the game are just flat out terrible...Example...Eagles of Death Metal...this band really needs to change their name because at no point during the song Wannabe in L.A. did I hear anything that remotely sounded like Death Metal...

And the final problem is with on-line matchmaking...but that's nothing new, i've had trouble getting into matches on all the guitar hero games...usually you can manage to get into a competitive 1 vs 1 match or a co-op 1 vs 1 thing...but a full band is really hard to accomplish...are there really that few people out there playing? I realize it's only been a couple days of it being out, but you'd think there'd be more people playing and with the new option of being able to play any instrument, more matches would be forming...I guess only time will tell.

All in all, it's fun, and the new additions and improvements are good...hopefully in the future we get some good downloadable songs for this game that I can appreciate!!!!!
