Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters, Can it break the Movie game curse?

User Rating: 6 | Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters PS3
Green Lantern Rise of the Manhunters is a God of War type Beat-em up with a sprinkling of Green Lantern for good measure.

You start the game fairly strong and you finish the game even stronger, none of the enemies really put up much of a fight and the hit detection is a little off on most occasions.
You are given your basic light and heavy attacks and you can TRY to make combos from them. I say try because if you are doing a combo with the light attack button then start pressing the heavy attack button it will stop your current combo and just do the finish of the heavy combo, making the combo system as deep as well...a movie games combo system (Also on top of this your maximum combo is 99, it wont go higher than that, trust me I tried).
The gameplay isn't bad though I'm just saying its not at the standard we have gotten used to in the last 5 years.
By far the best part of combat is the construct feature, you see Green Lanterns can create anything that they think about and this makes for a good feature in the game. At some points in the story Hal Jordan will be faced with a challenge he cannot overcome with his current abilities, so he thinks about it and presto he makes a bomb/hammer/baseball bat/mech suit. and continues. There are about 10-15 constructs if I remember correctly and all of them are pretty good and fun to experiment with.

The enemy AI is quite frankly terrible, on most occasions they will wait for you to come to them and punch them to pieces, on other occasions they will corner you and not stop attacking until your dead (this only happens about twice in the game).

The story and voice acting is forgettable and Hal Jordon's mouth movements don't match up with the audio at any point in the game. I can't even remember what the story was, I think it had something to do with yellow energy and traitors, I didn't pay much attention as some of the cut scenes and main story elements take place during gameplay so I just focused on killing things.

There is drop in drop out co-op but I never tried it, not that you would need to as the game was so easy and the same amount of enemies you fought in single-player is the same amount in multiplayer.

The Game as a whole is great as a movie game but it is fairly average when judged otherwise. It's fun for as long as it lasts and it is extremely easy to get a platinum trophy on. I would recommend it if it was cheaper, but at this stage I wouldn't unless you love Ryan Reynolds and Green Lantern.
