Rarewere knew what they were doing. EA sucks.

I was searching for this game about 3 years ago. I was young and didn't know what I was doing. I finally bought it of a friend for $5 about a year ago. One of the best, most innovating game EVER. I remember playing it as a chilled and still love it. No bond game today can compare to GoldenEye even to today's standards. Which means above all game play is most important. How many games back then let you "cook" a grenade, or peak around corners? The Bond games of today beat GoldenEye in almost every way but in terms of game play GoldenEye reigns supreme. GoldenEye had wonderful game play that beats most games today. It had 80 objectives spread across 20 levels and 3 difficulties. It also had 23 unlockable cheats including Invisibility all guns (including guns you can only get with this cheat such as the Tazer), invincibility slow and fast animation, and DK mode. You had over 30 weapons in your arsenal (including the golden gun and the lazer from Moonraker.) and a load of gadgets. It had some pretty catchy music and many consider it to be the best game ever. Guinness World Records 2009 Gamer's Edition ranked it #10 of best games ever "ranked on there initial impact and lasting legacy" They also said "The first FPS games on a console to actually work. The best movie-licensed game ever made. Another all-time great that still holds up great today." It also has superb multiplayer for up to 4 players 5 modes, 14 weapon sets, and 11 multiplayer maps many from one player. If you have a N64 and happen to find this game for $5 anywhere buy it. You wont be disappointed. Oh and if you happen to get bored there are tones of easter eggs/secrets and glitches from the first version that developers didn't take out.
