God of War is a throwback to the old school action game with cutting edge graphics. A must buy IMO

Anyone over the age of 20 will probably remember a great movie called Clash of the Titans that came out back in the 70s and has been on regular tv just about every Saturday since then(At least that's how it seems to me. It's an action packed story about love and war and the feuding of the greek gods that's a modern classic. And while the special effects are no longer cutting edge(actually they are very bad now) it is still a great ride if you can get into it. God of War is Clash of the Titans on steroids with a brand new coat of paint.
The action is visceral. The Boss battles(there are only 3) are some of the best of this generation. The combat system is deceptively simple and yet gives you the ability to rack up monster combos if you take the time to learn it. The main game is on the short side, but the quality of the ride makes up for it's brevity. Each level ups the anti. I feel that the game doesn't even hit it's stride until you make it to Pandora's Temple(one of the best experiences ever in videogameing IMO).
After you beat the game there's still plenty to do. The truly hardcore will want to go back and see if they can beat it on the harder modes. The final Boss on God mode is very tough. I would also suggest playing the Challenge of the Gods mode. It is tough to get through, but the extras you get are worth it, and you will learn how to fight multiple enemies better if you play it.

All in all God of War is a throwback to the kind of action games that reached their peak on the Snes and Genisis. It's great to see a re-emergence of the genre. Anyone who loves a good story and good level design should not hesitate to pick this game up(especially since it's only $20 now)
