Five years later and God Of War is still one of the best games on any console.

I've watched a lot of videos on Youtube, a LOT of videos. I noticed in the video game video comments in discussions of classic games that people said that mature games weren't fun. God Of War disproves that false theory. In 2005 this received a lot of praise for its amazing graphics, acting, and gruesome yet addicting and fun for the whole family (yeah right) gameplay. Five years later and God of War is still one of the best games on any console.

You play as Kratos, a depressed soldier who goes on a quest to rescue the gods. Upon arriving on the ship, the first thing you do is KICK ASS!! That's right, tutorals are introduced as you progress, never feeling tedious. You get many powers and items, but the control scheme is well done in this case.

The thing that puts God of War over the top is its brutal gameplay. Yes, there is nudity, but that's not even the best part (What?!) Kratos kicks serious ass, and you can perform dozens of combos without frustration. Combat is prety easy, but there's a lot of blood and satisfaction. For example, you can actually RIP the wings off of a dragon! While climbing ladders you can even attack while doing that! The game takes you to a lot of scenic locations, including Pandora's Temple, which looks incredible. The puzzles are easy and the level designs are fantastic, eliminating the frustration factor found in this type of game.

I do have a few complaints. There's no need of a camera, but I wish the controls were brought up on the menu on how to do special moves. Also Kratos' grunts are annoying after a while.

The graphics and sound are spectacular. The game looks so good, waves come by telling you that the game is pushing the limits. The music and acting are first class all the way.

In conclusion, God of War is one of the best games I've played in a long time. Want a great PS2 game? Guess what? Few games on the PS2 can match how much fun and polished God of War is. Get it if you know what the word video game means.
