A reminder of the importance of renting games first

I wanted to buy this game for a long time because critics were raving about it. So I finally buy it, and what do I find? A protagonist who seems to be devoid of personality, save for one or two short bursts of mild irritation, combat that, while not terrible, is wholly uninteresting, and laughably low replay value. Let me make it clear that this game is short. I'm talking Verne Troyer short. On my first playthrough, I finished the game in just over 10 hours, and there were no sidequests or anything to distract me from the linear path. It didn't help that about two-thirds of the game are spent in a single dungeon doing annoying and out-of-place platforming puzzles which kill you if you don't get them just right. So much time is spent reloading and trying again when you get killed by a stupid spike trap that it becomes less of an obstacle and more of an annoyance. If you're thinking of buying a game mainly consisting of live action combat, please, PLEASE buy one of the two Kingdom Hearts games instead of this, or just pick up a Ratchet and Clank title. If you want better puzzles in a dungeon, pick up one of the Zelda games like Ocarina or Wind Waker. If you want something that will satisfy a need for a gory adventure, pick up Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks. I suppose your opinion of this game will depend on how long you like your games. But if you don't like short games with no sidequests or varying gameplay, then don't even give this one a second glance.
