If Final Fantasy Tactics has a shoeshine boy, Gladius is his servant

After checking up on this game online and talking to the friend who lent it to me I was expecting a good to great turn based strategy, what I got instead was Gladius a mediocre in every way wannabe.

I decided that I would play as the girl, I don't remember her name anymore and it's really inconsequential anyway. I had a few immediate concerns after hearing the initial interaction between her and her brother. The gist of it was this.

(In very poor voice acting mind you.)

Brother: Girls can't be warriors.

Sister: You will learn after you have seen my strength brother.

Yada yada twelve year old crap, and there is a bit of this banter before just about every challenge you are taking on for the first time. But I told myself, this whole button pressing battle setup seems to have some potential. Sadly after about twelve hours with the game I realized that it did not. It becomes headache inducing repetitious very quickly. Button pressing to max out attack power is a bad idea in a TBS there is no getting around that, especially as you get into some of the better attacks and the gauge fills at warp 5.

So with this crappy interface you travel from town to town battling your way to the top of each places respective arena earning medals and licenses which earn you the right to participate in more identical battles! Yahoo! What a blast! There are a couple of different types of battle each if which is slightly close to fun the first and second time around, but like the rest of the game it becomes a chore far to quickly. Speaking of which I wasted a lot of time with this game after it became a chore and would recommend that you do not do the same.
