Fantastic, Worth the Buy

User Rating: 9 | Gears of War 4 (Ultimate Edition) XONE

Gears of War 4 lived up to my expectations for the most part, that's why I rated this title a 9 out of 10. Even though some people are saying the campaign was rather lackluster or short, I didn't mind it being a little shorter. It seems that The Coalition set its community up for a couple more games, and I am fine with that. I thought the story line was pretty good, and had some nice twists. If you are already a fan of the series, or are new to the series and interested, I highly recommend buying this game.

Please keep in mind, the points down below should not be major factors keeping you from buying this title. It's just a gamer nit-picking what they see missing from what was once in game, and worked before. These points are mainly "comforts" and aren't necessarily needed to enjoy this game at all.

However, there were a couple things that held this game back from a 10. I personally think this game is a 10. Mainly because I know what they can deliver with a couple updates. One thing that hurt this rating is the fact that you can't compare your ranked stats to your friends' like you used to be able to do in Gears 2 and 3. It doesn't break down each game type by kills like it used to either, just the game type's stats itself. Another part being that you can't see your skill rank unless you are the party leader selecting the game type, or at the end of each match. You can view your war journal when you are in a party and are not the leader, so I think you could put the rank next to the game type's name in the stats for an easy fix.

there are also some things to note to end out on a good note. Horde and the use of the fabricator is actually pretty fun. The campaign helps you learn to use it and become familiar with the tool, so that was smart on The Coalitions part. Private match making seems like it has everything you need. It's set up like the old lobbies, except your character and weapon selection are larger than they used to be. I like that though, you get to see your character up close, and the weapon skins up close. There are also two spectator spots in the lobby which is nice if you're waiting for your rotation in a big group of friends, wanting to take a break and watch while you eat or clean, or are playing competitive and want a mediator or something to that effect if you're streaming or hosting a tournament.
