Cheating AI ruins game.
After your first race your prompted to pick a car, not a fast one mind you, but a run of the mill average family hatch. Win the first few races and suddenly the AI has had a wake up call. Suddenly their cars are faster, they no longer need to brake to go around a corner and, although they have the exact same car, can pull away from you on the straight after a perfect corner by yourself. Then your prompted to change class, again and again. What happened to working your way up to faster cars? I was a scant 10 races into the game when it was prompting me to race A class or S, funny because I only had a few cars and some dodgy old muscle cars. Case in point, Silverstone raceway, B class. Had my arse kicked big time, checked to see what the winning car was, Lotus Evora, Ok go back and pick the same car, start race and stare in bewilderment as my Lotus cannot even keep up with the EXACT SAME CAR? The exact same car was pulling away from me on the straights like I had left the handbrake on, what the?
It was only when I checked the leaderboards did I discover all the fastest lap time are set by muscle cars. Build yourself an old Dodge or AMX and suddenly your competitive again. Then it asks you to change class again. During the same season your asked to change classes about 5 times, wheres the continuity? What happened to building up a nice F class car and racing till your confident? The AI will astound you at times, I don't know what I did to that guy driving the corvette but he jumped corners to smash me, blocked my turns and even ran blocking moves to allow other cars to pass. Aggression is one thing but this AI wanted me dead?
The only way I have found to advance through the career is to build a muscle car in just about every available class, pure acceleration is the only way to defeat cars that posses the ability to corner without braking or spinning wheels.
I am not enjoying my racing career in Forza 4, I stuggle to comprehend how my cars are simply not fast enough when statistics show that I should be, how the exact same cars produce more HP when in the hands of the AI, how the bashing tactics required to gain first place in a 2 lap race is the ONLY tactic to win said race. It looks good and sounds great but the smell, something is off and it's gone rotten.
Back to forza 3 for me or maybe I will just hold my breath till Skyrim drops.
