This is a great simulator if you like simulators. If you are a big fan of the arcade racers be prepared to be disappointed. There are not a whole lot of tracks and race types stick to traditional track racing. You may also find the cars frustratingly difficult to control at first. The fun part of this game is the cars and what you can do with them. There are over 200 cars each with very different handling characteristics. There are also a number of upgrades that can be purchased and a very robust (read complicated) tuning ability. Back to the frustratingly difficult to control bit, each car needs to be tuned for its individual handling characteristics, your personal driving style, and the track you will be racing on. Until you get its tuning dialed in, most of the cars are a nightmare to control. To make it more fun, changing one aspect of the tuning effects others. If you enjoy tinkering with the setups and testing different cars on different tracks to optimize performance then this is a superb game. If you like to jump into the mix and just start racing then not so much.
There are a couple of negative points. First, the benchmarking tool that is supposed to assist tuning does not seem to work right. Second, it takes a really long time to get to the more interesting races. I have sunk a lot of hours into it and I still have not unlocked the endurance races. Those are the ones that I wanted to play the most (no, really, really long races do not bore me, yes, I am weird that way).
