Just picked this game up for 15 bucks and I was wondering what you all think about it.

Great game...but the soundtrack sinds like a porno playing in slow-motion 0_o.
anyway i really enjoyed the game A LOT.:D
So far I do like the game now that I've gotten out of the beginning part in Citadel. I'm not really into the whole space opera thing, but even given that I'm enjoying it. The combat is partly very reminiscesent of Gears which I like, I think once I play through more of it and gain more abilities I'll enjoy it even more. Getting stuck in the environment's geometry and the interface (menu screens and such) issues take away from it though. I think it has a lot of potential, hopefully the sequel will fix the little things that take away from it.
Mass Effect is one of my all time favorite RPGs period. I got so many of my friends into RPGs by lending them my copy of the game. We all had different experiences, and that alone was awesome.
I personally like Gears gameplay better. Even though I don't like Gears. So far I do like the game now that I've gotten out of the beginning part in Citadel. I definitely prefer Gears, but I'm a huge fan. I just think it's cool that they were able to include that type of gunplay in that kind of game.
mass effect is like a giant interactive novel to me. its main focus is the story and yet it still rocks. its like reading a book while pwning aliens haha

Yeah I read someone describe it as a sci-fi novel in the form of a video game which is pretty accurate.
One of the best 360 RPG's out there and one of Bioware's best RPGs but it had a lot of technical problems and UI/interface problems but that was fixed in the PC version.
Mass Effect is a must play game for anyone with decent attention span, unfortunatly that alienates a good chunk of the360 owners. Some find it difficult to watch a movie and play a game at the same time. But that's what Mass Effect is, the action and the conversations are interactible. So if your one of those people who skips through the conversations to only see the action in the movies then this isn't your game. Otherwiseyou have to atleast try it.
Yeah I bought mass effect the other week as it was cheap/highly recommended. Am about 7 hours into the game and so far am enjoying it; fun to play and still looks great. Also the fact that it is very much a shooter is awesome as I am not much of an rpg person usually.I do have a few tiny niggly complaints though;
1) I find the combat and team interactions a little clunky, although I still think the overall combat experience to be fantastic
2) I find it a bit annoying that when you die you have to do the precursor interactions with the enemy that killed you previously again (I'm thinking here mainly of the fight against Matriarch Benezia on Noveria where I died a few times before completing it but still had to do the same conversation every time I resumed the game). I like having the conversations and accept it as part of the rpg experience but having to continuously do the same one again and again is pretty annoying after a while. Couldn't they just fast forward to the action the next time?
3) The music is pretty terrible:P
Great game though and am hoping it continues to be as fun/the story remains as engaging
imo its the greatest rpg of all time, im a big space fan and this game fulfills everything i would want in a space based rpg. my only problem with this game is the lack of variety on the planets its kinda like the caves and fortresses in oblivion, hopefully the second improves on this or better have randomly generated planets and how can anyone not like the music, i have actually found myself humming the some of the songs tunes
I pretty much agree with everything you said. I actually have the Original Soundtrack to Mass Effect.imo its the greatest rpg of all time, im a big space fan and this game fulfills everything i would want in a space based rpg. my only problem with this game is the lack of variety on the planets its kinda like the caves and fortresses in oblivion, hopefully the second improves on this or better have randomly generated planets and how can anyone not like the music, i have actually found myself humming the some of the songs tunes

best space sci-fi RPG setting, best death music and best character creation on console
be sure to watch some spoof of the death music on youtube
It has it's fair share of problems and a lot of those problems kept me from enjoying the game as much as everyone else. But I did finish it and I liked it a lot. I can't wait for ME2.
I haven't played the game in a while, but I do enjoy the game. The graphics are superb, the voice work is great, the RPG element isn't bad, and the gameplay is good. I am at the part where you get ahold of the Normandy. Not very far yet but I'm probably going to play it a lot and finish the story. Hope there is good replay value.
