So this thread is basically for those who have played games on the X without patches from the base XB1 version, and what differences have they noticed.

I will go first obviously.

First was F1 2017 (before the patch) I played 100hrs of it on my XB1 and the game had terrible screen tearing at almost every track, but once I put it in my X I noticed that 99% of screen tearing was gone except for 2 corners at Spa, and made the game more immersive.

The second game I noticed a big difference was Just Cause 3, on the base XB1 it has big dips in frames whenever there was explosions, which made the game annoying, but it was still fun. However after playing it on the X I noticed no frame drops at all, I blew up bases and petrol (gas) stations which used to be the biggest culprit for frame drops, and to my surprise it ran the game smoothly.

So my fellow Xbox gamers what differences have you noticed in games without patches???

Yeah the biggest improvement I've seen so far is F1 2017... which you told me about before I bought it. Thanks :)

So are you enjoying it?

The career grind is real boring though, I did 7 seasons, 5 on the XB1 and 2 on the X and the difference in screen tearing is night and day when both consoles are compared.

@i_p_daily: Yeah I'm enjoying it... on my second season now.

Massive improvement on X. I remember how bad the screen tearing was on F1 2016 too.

Do you still have 16 to try it out? I traded mine in so I can't try it.

Every game in my library that I've played on X1X looks and feel so much better in every aspect, no kidding. I suppose I'd say thus far, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Quantum Break are stand outs in that regard. At the same time, older BC games like Halo 3 etc. on X1X are delish as well. :D

@i_p_daily: Nah mate I don't have it anymore... but you'd assume there would be an improvement too on X.

Good topic, no particular game comes to mind because I've been mostly playing X-enhanced titles since I got the console, and the unpatched games I played were mostly new ones to me, so I couldn't tell how much different they were. But in general, I noticed reduced loading times on several games. I'll post more details if I remember later

I was mainly referring to games that have NOT received patches, although I look forward to revisiting Tomb Raider to finish of the Croft manor DLC.

Oh

I only have mostly played games with patches.... I guess some of the unpatched ones seem a bit more snappy, they don't drop frames, etc.

I just remembered, although I have not played it yet, I know Battlefield One gets nice benefits from the X(unpatched) because it uses a dynamic resolution system that scales back the res whenever the action gets hectic, so the X should allow it to maintain the max res most, if not all of the time. Also, I read people stating on the forums how it improves framerates and decreases load times. As well, the game recently received the HDR update which you need the X1S or XOneX to use that feature.

I know this because I am a huge battlefield fan and did research for this game, I was waiting for the X patch, they initially had it listed on the X-enhanced list however it was quietly removed and is no longer there. There is a strong possibility it will never get the patch but a lot of people seem happy with the brute force native enhancements the X provides, so it does sound like it is one of the games who benefits nicely without the patch.

I don't know why EA hasn't patched some of it's games, namely BF 1.

I find this part interesting in the sense that when I was playing Ghost Recon Wildlands with 2 other people who were on the XB1, when we failed a mission and the game had to reload us back at the starting point, the 2 people I was playing with would load in a good 5-10 before me on the X.

@i_p_daily: I remember reading how one of those X-enhanced games(honestly forgot which one) that had higher res 4K textures after the patch, the loading was a little longer than pre-patch because those textures also take longer to load.....the XOneX does load faster, but I guess depending on the game if there are much higher quality textures being loaded, that might cancel out whatever benefit you would have had for decreased loading time, and in your case maybe even made it slightly longer to load the higher quality textures. Or it could be another reason

I did not play BF1 on the X yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if indeed the loading is quicker as the textures didn't get upgraded in that game.

I finished Wildlands before the patch I think, but it did feel like Just Cause 3 loaded quicker so you are probably right about the 4K textures stuff.
