Ok, when i signed up to live i put my real age in (i was 17..child?! ha).

Anyway, it really limited what i can do on xbox live, plus i have to put in a password to a 'parents' live account before i add a friend etc, i also cant do alot of stuff.

Anyway, im 18 now, why is my live account still a child account? how can i change this? thank you.

I have no idea. Best bet is to contact Xbox Live Support some how. Got to Xbox.com and there should be a link for support.

You're hosed. You can't change it. The best you could do right now is to make a new Xbox Live account.

They are just going to apologize a bunch of times saying that they know there is a small group of people that are having this problem and they are working to fix it....

"small group of people having this problem" ok...it's like more than half the users of xbox live that have this problem, they wont do anything, there was a big thing when msn came out for 360 and child accounts couldn't use it...just got to deal with it, or make a new account which i have done and i know it sucks cause achievements and all, but they are just achivements..unless ur crazy for achivements..

well, if u lie about ur age to access porn, then why not lie about ur age to get full use of XBL?

Because when initially setting up my gamer tag, i put my real date of birth in (surley thinking been 17 would give me access to everything?)..once i had it wouldnt let me change it.

Now im 18 and still have a child account, how stupid.

Yes you are stuck with it like everyone else is saying, but there are settings you can alter where you can have access to everything, such as friends list and all.

Im not sure exactly what it is but you can, while signed in through the parents .NET on the xbox you can edit the settings so your child account has full control over everything, the only thing you miss out on are the ads on the blades and MSN

i had this same problem. i ended up changing my account but u can fix it. if u remember the email and password of the "parent" account that u used u can login under that when you are under the parental controls option and change them. if u do not remember, then u can only make a new account. dont even both calling it just causes aggravation.
