I would advise trying the demos like mentioned above. I think it'll be a game you either love or hate. I dont think this game has a middle ground. I'm was enjoying it but my 360 got the RRoD (picked up today for repairs)
I actually just bought it recently (sale) and completed it twice in the past few days (different difficulties). I was pretty surprised with the reviews for it, because I thought it was better than stated. I enjoyed it. It wasn't in any way, shape or form creative, but it was an enjoyable game nonetheless. My guess is some people will disagree, but I think it is better than many shooters that get a lot more admiration.
I also should point out that I tried the demo and made a few off-color remarks about how corny and unoriginal it was. I'm glad it was on sale, because I ended up liking it quite a bit. Some of the game play is repetitive and the missions may consist of the same thing, but the actual shooting aspect of it felt right.
