With Mass Effect closing in to its release date and a lot of threads being created on this forum, it's time for a sticky. So, all discussion about Mass Effect can remain in this thread rather than have dozens of threads about it in this forum.

Remember - you can also check out the main Mass Effect forum for more discussion. Don't forget to keep checking back to the gamespace for news and GameSpot's review soon.

For those who already have the game - if you're going to post about endings and such, please use the SPOILER tags and warn users before leading them to read on. Thanks.

The review is up. 8.5.

ok im continuing my question since my thread got locked:

first of all im not flamingthe game im asking a question cause i realy want it so....

i know this game has alot of hours into it including the main questline and the other side quests but aside from quests what does this game have in replay value?

examples:

assassins creed has assassinations, pickpocketingand collecting flags

oblivion has pickpocketing buying/selling items, and getting new armour and weapons

for those who already have ME tell me aside ffrom quests what this game will have to add in replay value cause i dont want to just do quests the whole time.

Yeah, I didn't mean anything by locking it - it was just that I was trying to keep this forum from so many different threads. There were quite a few I noticed and hence, why I created this thread. I do not own this game as of right now but hopefully you'll get some good discussion going. ;)

Alot of side things to collect, amour, weapons, upgrades etc. aswell as planets to survey and countless things to do besides the main quest..

If you have the time and want to do all the side quests expect to do alot.. Ive clocked up 11 hours thus far and ive only done the first part of the main story and am currently towards the end of a second side quest.. barely touched the story so as said plenty to do =)

Ah man, the wait is killing me.

By the way, for anyone wondering how long it is, you can complete it in 15 hours IF you rush through it. It can last you up to 50 or so hours for your first play through if you do majority/all side quests, and explore every planet.

I do not own the game, this is just based on what i've heard from reviewers and BioWare devs.:)

15 hours?... I dunno about that, youd have to skip dialogue, go thorugh blind, skip enemies etc.. playing through in 15 hours would be such a waste of time, even skipping side quests youd miss out on too much of the main story doing it that fast.. I have been doing a bit but ive only done 2 main parts of the story and 1 major side quest and im 12 hours in now.. still towards the beginning of the story with only a hunded or so gamer score from it.. I still have ages to go.. If you do everything expect 50-70 hours id say

It's what the reviewers at 1Up claimed, and i think they skipped basically every side-quest. They complained that they didn't understand the story and didn't know what was going on, which makes me think they must of skipped/ignored majority of the conversations.

So if you really want to get through it quick, then it is possible, but why would you.

i liked the review Game Informer gave it...even tho they werent really specific on how long they spent playing it. but i bet anything it has a hell of a good replay value. i mean iv played games that have the "Cause& Effect" systemover and over just to see what will happen and i know ME delivers that. and with achievements im more than sure you cant get the same achievement one the same saved game. like in Elder Scrolls4O.SI you cant be the ruler of crusible and bliss. (from what i have exp.)

You made a good choice, ive been playing this game for a few hours now and the only dissapointing thing is that the water doesnt move very much when you walk through it but apart from that, it is a flawless, great looking, challenging game with an awesome story and great gameplay. i give it a 9.9.

I second judas, im 9 hours in, done 1 main mission and a side quest. This game will equal oblivion in stuff to do and length.

I am unsure whether there will be multiple endings yet, although it looks as tho there could be.

Apart from that, they game has the odd flaw but nothing that detracts from the overall experience. The minor frame rate drop here n there during some loading while a cut screen appears. Some shading issues on the faces. Other then that, its gorgeous, huge, and will keep you busy for a long time to come.

Think, GRAW/RB6/GoW meets SW:KOTOR

Well my last thread got locked just like 2 minutes ago so I thought I would repost it in here.

Ok, I know this is not an OFFICAL Mass Effect thread, due to the fact that I am not a mod, but I created this thread because Mass Effect releases next week. And this is for people to catch up on what the hell this game is all about. Please tell me if this helped you at all!!!

What the hell is this game about???

This game is set 200 years in the future in an epic universe, Mass Effect places gamers in a vast galactic community in danger of being conquered by a legendary agent gone rogue. A spectacular new vision from legendary developers BioWare, Mass Effect challenges players to lead a squad of freedom fighters as they struggle against threatening armies to restore peace in the land.

Mass Effect is the first in a trilogy of games with an overarching story. As the first human Specter - sworn defenders of galactic peace - your mission is to halt the advancing armies of a legendary agent gone rogue. But as you lead your elite team across hostile alien worlds, you will discover the true threat is far greater than anyone imagined.-IGN writing staff http://xbox360.ign.com/objects/718/718963.html

FOR INFO ON COMBAT

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/834/834262p1.html

This is the menu where you freeze time to select weapons, or special "BIOTIC" abilities. Also tells teamates what to use and so on.

Yes there will be sexual scenes, but this is all you will pretty much see.

This game is the spirtual successor of KOTOR 1 and 2, created by Bioware. If you have anymore questions please ask right now, and I will try and answer them.

lol, nah, much longer, around the 60 - 100 hours depending how you play it, and you will ONLY get thru it in 15 - 20 hours if you skip the side quests and most of the dialog. hell, you'll be surprised how long the actual intro is before you get your plane and free run of where you go.

I remember reading in an interview that you can just travel to all types of different planets and then just drive around in this big truck car thing. And the place would be absolutely massive with real physics etc.

So, can anyone confirm this?

EDIT: dont worry i just saw the galactic exploration video.......WOW

I am unsure if I should get the special edition, it certainly packs a lot extra for only $10 bux more, but u can only get it online which s one of the stupidest things ever! I might just get the regular edition, but, grrr, its sooo close, yet sooo far away!

Well im 12 hours in with alot more to go, havn't even got upto starting a love interest and still towards the beginning of the story.. Im not a slow player I just am thorough, so if anyone else is like me theyll be satisfied..and taking into consideration it is worth playing through atleast two times.. I always like to be be really good then play through again ruthless and evil then some might like to play as the oposite gender..

Besides from a few graphical issues at times the game is flawless but it will not be as great as it is if you skip dialogue and dont explore properly and skip out on everything.. there are so many side quests to do starting right at the citadel.

Also ive noticed theres a downloadable content section which im sure it is there for expansions like in oblivion and other such games so expect them to deliver even more story and quests in the future

I got it two days ago :D It rocks being Australian, well for Mass Effect anyway >_>. It's really awesome so far. I'm playing as a Paragon Soldier who specialises in Assault Rifles and Sniper Rifles. I'm level 15 and have been playing it for 10 or so hours. It's a must buy in my books.

well my current game time = 13 hours. Ive done 2 main quest missions and the rest is side quests. Ive got a long way to go. Im enjoying it and I reckon it will last me the time I said. If you want to blow through it so quickly as its a waste of money thats your choice.

If you can somehow get an Australian copy, then it should work since it is PAL. I have played Gun (Australian) and it works on my European console.

this grammar suck...

Anyways, while there is still time, anyone interested in Mass Effect the game should go out and read Mass Effect: Revelations the book. The book isn't that long or complicated, you can easily read it in an afternoon if you want. The book does a really good job of introducing you to the game world. There are a lot of alien species and alien political manuevering to learn about. Plus the story is pretty good.

Is there a Launch Center up for Mass Effect? I can't see one, which is odd as it's out next week.

LOL !!

I just wanted to see how fast people would react

no but honestly it is a pretty good game. there are a couple of framerate issues which get pretty annoying at times but there's a huuuge universe to explore.
